How to run crysis with dx9 through windows 7 and a steam bought version?

I have it on steam, I want to run it through dx9 because apparently it runs smoother. I have windows 7 and can't work out how.How to run crysis with dx9 through windows 7 and a steam bought version?
If I remember correctly there is a option in game where you can disable dx10. Just go into options, video settings or something like that.

That's wrong, there isn't an option in the game for which DX to run.
