I have 4GB of ram and I'm planning to upgrade from Vista 32-bit to Windows 7 64-bit. My question is that would 4GB of ram be enough to run games like Crysis, and Bad Company 2? I know the 64-bit OS uses 2GB of ram.Is 4GB of ram enough for Windows 7?
Yes. You dont really need to depend on more ram to make games work better. RAM uses a MHz term, used for speed it runs at while doing temporary memory storage or transferring data. 4GB of RAM is plenty for a video game for this era.
You want to check your Manual on your motherboard to see even if your motherboard can handle more ram. Not so much on the OS you are looking at. Most newer motherboards that use the DDR3 setup, have allowed up to 4gb on 32bit OS's and 8gb of 64bit OS's. DDR2 is the same for 32bit and only 6gb on 64bit. Unless you have a custom built gaming machine (not referring to the Dell products, those are not custom).
Crysis primarily works on your CPU and GPU, not so much on RAM. Bad Company 2 will be fine with 4gb. Im running 4GB of Corsair DDR2 Extreme 800mhz ram, and BC2 runs like a champ!
The 64 bit doesn't necessarily use 2g of RAM, it just requires that you have it. If you want to know if it's enough for a game check that games requirements. But I will say if you can play them on Vista with those specs you will be fine with 7. 7 runs a lot smoother and more efficiently than Vista ever thought it could. Is 4GB of ram enough for Windows 7?
it will be fine, windows 7 uses more ram if u have alot , i got 6GB, had it installed for a few months i got some programs installed and its only useing 1.1gb right now, it uses around 700mb on my 2GB ram laptop so it will be fine ^^
4gb is perfect for those type of games.
I have 4gb and can play any game (mostly play modern warfare 2 online) i want, and keep my utorrent and firefox running and I never max out my ram.Is 4GB of ram enough for Windows 7?
stick with 2gb, you might find your computer crashes with 4gb cuz its using up all the resources [power supply] just make sure your cpu can handle it
